About Smashtoshi
Smashtoshi is a global art and education collective that brings Bitcoin’s story to life through powerful visuals, storytelling, and immersive experiences.
At its core, Smashtoshi is about education. Our mission is to help the world and future generations understand where Bitcoin came from, why it matters, and how it changed everything. Instead of whitepapers or price charts, we use art, expression, and first-hand accounts from the people who were there.
From its cypherpunk roots to global adoption, the story unfolds through a curated timeline of pivotal moments, each reimagined by a different artist and grounded in original research and historical data. It’s not just what happened, but how it felt and what it meant.
Our first project is History of Bitcoin, which you can explore in three ways:
BIT / The History of Bitcoin
BIT is a 2140-edition art book featuring panoramic spreads, a companion volume with detailed research, and a custom display stand engraved with the Bitcoin whitepaper. The First Edition will be auctioned in December 2025, with proceeds supporting the Bitcoin education charity Mi Primer Bitcoin.
The Digital Archive
A free online timeline at historyofbitcoin.io featuring all artworks, stories, and data, available to everyone. The research draws on first-hand accounts from over 100 early Bitcoiners, including Martti Malmi, Theymos, Trace Mayer, Samson Mow, Tim Draper, and Jameson Lopp. Their voices ensure accuracy while adding the perspective of those who helped shape events.
In-Person Exhibitions
A global series of educational events, talks, and immersive installations that bring Bitcoin’s story to life and connect communities through art.
Smashtoshi exists to preserve Bitcoin’s legacy and make learning about it accessible, beautiful, and unforgettable.
